This Western follows isolated rancher, John August, as he struggles to care for his son and sickly wife, Claire. Her illness is beyond John's abilities and must seek help. Conflicted whether to leave his family alone in the wilderness of the 1870s, he entrusts his son, James, with his pistol and to watch over his mother while he travels to town. While alone, James discovers riders on the hillside coming his way. John returns to his invaded home amongst shots fired, chaos and confusion. The outlaws search the ranch grounds, evening John's odds to take them out, one by one. Lives hang in the balance between gun play, horses, and barn fights, taking August's Claim to a high stakes crescendo in this 10 minute short.
