Carlo Delcourt is a wise man who has been working for the local godfather for many years. Further to a drug deal, he takes possession of a briefcase (called 'la chose' or 'the thing'), which contains a new and revolutionary type of drug. The briefcase arouses greed, but all those who come near it will eventually die.
