Across the battlefields of the First World War, two groups of soldiers await orders for the big push, when they will be sent up over the walls of their trenches to face each other. And yet, before they are sent off to face their deaths, their lives demonstrate that the national borders that separate them are not as strong as the human bonds that bind them together.
